Facebook’s Dark Mode is underway
Facebook has been gradually rolling out “FB5”, a fresh new design to their app since F8 2019. With FB5, the app looks very bright, it looks almost completely white. When used at night, it can double as a flashlight, and it could be harmful to our eyesight.
Thankfully, FB5 for mobile is taking a dark turn.
I came across this unreleased Dark Mode in Facebook’s mobile app for Android by looking into the code underneath, which indicates Facebook has recently started implementing the long-awaited Dark Mode into their mobile app.
This Dark Mode appears to be in an early stage of development, understandably. For now, only certain parts of the app has been reworked to support the Dark Mode. For example, dark text displaying on a dark background, vice versa.
With a mobile app of this scale, it could take time to refine the Dark Mode. Be patient! The rough edges will eventually be refined!
The time it takes to develop and release experimental features like this varies. I am as curious about the release timeline of Facebook mobile Dark Mode as you are!
